Here are some links to provide you with facts and figures on diabetes and help you with your post in the Diabetes Dialogue. This is by no means a comprehensive list but is a good starting point.

Charities supporting people with diabetes

Diabetes UK
is the leading charity working for people with diabetes. The charity funds research, campaigns and helps people to live with the condition.
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
is the leading charitable funder and advocate of juvenile (type 1) diabetes research worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.
Insulin Pumpers UK
is part of an international charity promoting the knowledge and use of insulin pump therapy to treat diabetes. This site is run by volunteers to help people with diabetes.

Other sources of information related to diabetes

Dr Foster Report
is one of the leading publishers of healthcare information in the UK. Dr Foster works with the help of the Department of Health but is independent.
National Diabetes Support Team
supports local services throughout the NHS and its partners in delivering the National Service Framework (NSF) for Diabetes.
Wired for Health
is a series of websites developed by the Department of Health and the Department for Education and Skills. Health information is provided for a range of audiences that relates to the National Curriculum and the National Healthy Schools Programme.
Diabetes – Deptartment of Health
details policy and guidance on diabetes care.
Disability Rights Commission
is an independent body established to stop discrimination and promote equality of opportunity for disabled people. Although most people with diabetes do not consider themselves disabled, diabetes is covered by the Disability Discrimination Act.
