Diabetes Dialogue - what happened next
The second consultation in the 'Diabetes Dialogue' series began on September 25th and finished on October 31st 2005.
The volume, detail and thought that went into the contributions, as well as the interaction between participants, was very impressive. We hope that you enjoyed taking part in Diabetes Dialogue and that you are pleased with the contribution you made.
The Hansard Society archived all the contributions and put these in a transcript that was issued to Diabetes UK with a general summary report. Diabetes UK have thoroughly considered all the contributions and these to inform their in-depth report on diabetes care in the UK, entitled Diabetes: State of the Nations 2005.
This report was launched in Westminster on Wednesday 14th December and Rosie Winterton MP, Minister of State for Health Services, responded encouragingly to comments made by contributors to the consultation. She stated that the Health Department have sent further information to the NHS to clarify government targets on service delivery for diabetes sufferers.
We will continue to monitor government responses to Diabetes: State of the Nations 2005 and hope that the report will stimulate ongoing debate among policy-makers, medical professionals and all interested parties.
